EC dumbfounded on appointment of election observers

Rohana Hettiarachi, Director of People’s action for Free and Fair elections (PAFFREL) , lamented that they have sent several letters and reminders to the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake regarding the appointment of observers at the forthcoming General elections without avail.

When the habeas corpus petition filed by Ms. Anoma Fonseka at the Appeal Court requesting Gen. Sarath Fonseka to be produced before a civil court was taken for inquiry today one judge of the panel of three judges informed that it was not possible for him to sit for the proceedings on personal reasons.
